Have you ever installed an AutoCAD based product (such as AutoCAD Architecture, MEP, etc…) and really only needed it’s AutoCAD functionality and menus? The following steps will allow you to run your “vertical” product as regular AutoCAD.  Assuming it was installed normally, and the AutoCAD profile was loaded, this should work.

Step 1.  –  Find the AutoCAD icon on your desktop.

Step 2.  –  Move your mouse over it and RIGHT click once.

Step 3.  –  Select PROPERTIES off the menu that appears (likely at the bottom of that menu).

Step 4.  – Where it states “Target” make sure it ends in:  /p “AutoCAD”   This will load the AutoCAD profile. Here is an example from AutoCAD MEP:

 “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD MEP 2012\acad.exe”  /p “AutoCAD”

Step 5. – Click OK at the bottom of this box.

Step 6. – Double click the Icon and run AutoCAD as AutoCAD!
