Course Description

Prerequisites: Familiarity with Windows based computer operating system, an understanding of civil engineering terminology, & experience with Autodesk AutoCAD-based products are all assets for this course.  Students should have a good working skill level with a minimum of 80 hours of work experience with the AutoCAD Civil 3D software & a basic understanding of pressure network design.

Expectations:  Students should take away from this class an understanding of how to manage project drawing files & the file types shared by/with project consultants.

  • Understanding the descriptions of file types & respective applications
  • Organizing drawings, design objects, & work procedures
  • Using data references to distribute the model in multiple drawings
  • Using sites to manage dynamic interaction of design objects
  • Drawing maintenance & file size reduction methods
