Horizontal and Vertical Offset Survey Figures

Take advantage of the special codes available in the Linework Code Sets to create multiple offset Survey Figures with a single set of survey points imported through the Survey Database in Civil 3D.

Do you know about the different special codes that Civil 3D to help you control Survey Figure creation? These codes can be part of the point description and are read and processed while importing data into the Survey Database. 

Autodesk ReCap Update

An update release of Autodesk ReCap is available for download, updating from version to and contains the following fixes:

  • Install the latest FARO SDK ( by default.

  • Fix issue where some E57 files won't import due to missing fields.

  • Add workaround for AutoCAD issue with smart snapping to some RCS files.

  • Fix issue where intensity could be incorrect for some points.

  • Fix issue where custom range filters could have no effect.

InfraWorks 360 2016.4 is Available

InfraWorks 360 2016.4 has been released and is available for download. 

New features include improvements to the Model Builder, raster terrain overlays, improved bookmarks, expanded roundabout functionality, ramps, left turn lanes, traffic simulation improvements, textures for individual bridge components, custom rainfall data tables and equations, ability to analyze off-road pipes and structures, improved web publishing, and proposal-specific panoramas.


Performing a parcel mapcheck in Civil 3D is a farily straight forward process, but can offer surprises with a boundary containing an arc segment, such as in a cul-de-sac.

Revit Build Numbers and Updates, how do you tell what you need?

If you ever want to know what update / service pack matches your Revit Build #, heres a quick way to find out.

First open Revit, select the down arrow buy the help button (top right), select about Revit, then you should see the version / build # of your installed Revit.
