Understanding the new Trim and Extend commands in AutoCAD 2021

Autodesk AutoCAD 2021 brings new functionality with both the Trim and Extend commands.

As opposed to previous versions, you no longer have to select a cutting object to trim to, saving you a few steps. This can become a problem, however, in crowded drawings as I will demonstrate in the linked video below. There are options to alleviate these issues and restore previous functionality either temporarily or permanently.

Importing DWG files, modeling in Revit, and exporting back to DWG Basic How to Video

In Revit you can link and Import CAD files like DWG's, model from those 2D and 3D CAD files within Revit and then even export back into CAD if needed. Here is a quick how to video on how to do this.

How to upload and publish documents to BIM 360

You will find how to upload and publish multiple file types to your BIM 360 projects with the link above, also make sure that you have the Autodesk Desktop Connector installed as well - link is below.

AutoCAD 2020 Block Performance Hotfix

With the latest version of AutoCAD 2020, a new Block pallette gives new functionality in organizing, loading and placing blocks in your drawing.

However, when opening drawings containing a large number of blocks, there is a definite slowdown while the drawing is organized to catalog these new blocks. To alleviate some of the delays, Autodesk has issued a Hotfix for AutoCAD 2020.

AutoCAD Web App

As part of your AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AEC Collection subscriptions, you get access to the AutoCAD Web App.

Edit, create, and view CAD drawings in a web browser on any computer.
