Autodesk Webinar: BIM for Plant Design
Wed. September 11th, 2019 @ 9 am PDT
From urbanization to increased regulatory pressures, plant designers are being challenged to deliver better and safer facilities on time and on budget. The use of BIM workflows can help accelerate project setup, improve collaboration and cost management, minimize errors and omissions, and enable better design through visualization.
With the 2020 release of Autodesk Infraworks, users who are subscribers to BIM360 Docs will notice a difference in the Model Builder for Infraworks. Unlike the previous version, when creating a new model with the Model Builder, there is a conspicuous absence of the BIM360 Docs folders.
In the embeded video below, Seiler Design Solutions will demonstrate how to add an orthomosaic image created from drone photography to an Autodesk Infraworks model and to trim out the odd shaped areas using color masking.
This technique can also be used to add other types of image overlays to your model such as signs, logos and labels, masking out the portions you do not wish to display.
Last week, I posted a video showing how to preform a watershed analysis in Autodesk Civil 3D. This week, show you how to perform a simple watershed analysis of a site with a component road and use the returned results to add hydrology data and add and size a drainage culvert underneath the road.
Once the preliminary design has been calculated in Infraworks, the model can then be opened in Autodesk Civil 3D for further detailed design and revisions.

Seiler Design Solutions recently hosted a webinar on "Using GIS data in your engineering designs with Civil 3D and Map 3D". Thank you to all those who attended. We hope that you gained some valuable information you can use in your engineering desing workflows.
If you missed out on our webinar, you can view a recording of it below.
In this webinar, Seiler Design Solutions demonstrates a few common ways in which GIS data can be utilized in your engineering designs.
