While there are many available applications for getting information about your computer, there are very few that are:

1. Already installed.

2. Virtually everyone with a Windows OS has access to.

…. luckily, I have an answer on how to access that application! The following steps will provide a wide variety of information ranging from installed hardware to available printers, from system processes which are loaded/running to information on your network and MAC address. In short: a wealth of information for you and also for those that may need to troubleshoot your system.

Windows 7:

On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter MSINFO32.
In the System Information dialog box, on the File menu, click Save.
In the Save As dialog box, make sure that the file type is System Information File (*.NFO).
Enter a name for the file. Click Save.

Windows XP:

On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter MSINFO32.
In the System Information dialog box, on the File menu, click Save.
In the Save As dialog box, make sure that the file type is System Information File (*.NFO).
Enter a name for the file. Click Save.

Windows 2000:

On the Start menu (Windows), click Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter MSINFO32.
In the System Information dialog box, on the Action menu, click Save As System Information File.
Enter a name for the file. Click Save.
